So Lonely

That's right, I feel so lonely without my computer. It's not that I spend that much time on it. It's just the fact that it's my window to the outside world.

I homeschool my 3 kid's; I love doing it, but sometimes I get a little stir-crazy! We don't have T.V. in our house. It's amazing how much you miss without a t.v. (news-wise that is, the rest we're better off without).

So I have had the old radio on quite a bit in the afternoon. Of course, then I get frustrated with all the junk being spouted on there- I mean, it sounds like I'm the only one still in the President's corner. But I digress...

My computers motherboard died a sudden death. And the time required to fix it has been drawn out longer and longer.

Which means I cannot blog OR check up on the daily news. Or pay my bills online. Or print out worksheets. I never thought I would be computer-dependant!

Anyway, just posting this from hubby's work computer. Hopefully, I'll be back soon.

Moving on up

I have to say, I'm moving up in the blogging world- I now have 2 readers! Which means I will have to come up with more interesting posts. So, when something interesting happens, I'll be back (understand, it could take awhile).

Change

Does anybody out there in the big world of blogging hate change? I don't think anybody could loathe it as much as I do. It is hard for me to believe there are people who actually get up in the morning looking forward to what new thing or experience life is going to throw at them. Not me- just give me the same old, same old day after day. It may sound boring (and sometimes it most definitely is) but that's the way I like it. Don't get me wrong- I can be a little flexible. But I like to have my world (somewhat)ordered. Of course, having 3 little rugrats means I get a few unexpected things thrown at me- but then I expect that to happen. Have you noticed people have a hard time committing to things anymore? Do you have a friend or relative that always sets "tentative" dates that usually change last minute? Of course things "pop-up", but you KNEW they would. Of course, being a stay-at-home homeschooling mother of three, I have so much more flexibility with my schedule than they do with theirs..(note the dripping sarcasm). But I digress....
My doctor who has helped me with a myriad of symptoms (too boring to list) has left his practice (now he's down to one office located far, far away). So I go to another doc in the office. Talk about night and day. Seems I have issues (medical) that this doc noticed that the other (highly esteemed) did not. Instead of the usual monthly visit he want's me back next week. Let's see: $30. a visit weekly instead of once a month. If my math is right, that equals WAY too much. I want my dear departed doctor back...No, I'm not nut's. Maybe it's the late (or very early) hour. Or my need for everything to stay the same and be predictable. Or maybe it's because I have found a good Doctor is worth his weight in Gold.

Camp Champoeg

Today we took the kids to Homestead day at Camp Champoeg.

They had many fun activities going on there. My 8-year-old son was fascinated by the old-time blacksmith who was demonstrating how nails and other items were made way back when. He then let a long line of children take turns at pounding out their own nail. I was very impressed by this, as it was quite a hot day and the man running the station was standing by a hot fire the whole time. My son was thrilled, and that nail has not left his pocket since!

They also had a wheat threshing demonstration, a peddler's cart where you could choose beads and shells to make a craft, old-time children's games, food samples, fresh produce from their wonderful garden which the kid's could choose from, and of course fresh lemonade.

They have a small museum there and we especially liked the animal pelts ( that's the closest I ever want to be to a skunk!). The admission fee of $3.00 per car was the usual day fee, and other than that it was donations only.

We all had a good time, and it was much cheaper than the state fair! We followed that up with supper at Jack-in-the-box and then ended the day with a family bike ride at another local park ( we had to work off all that greasy food!).

I love that good, tired feeling at the end of a day spent doing things together as a family.
