It appears as if Fall is officially here both by date and the changing of weather. I was surprised yesterday afternoon when a sudden heavy downpour turned my driveway into large puddles of mud in a short amount of time. I couldn't help but think of all those who suffered the effects of the recent hurricanes, and the damage that was caused. As much as I have grumbled about our Northwest rainy season at times, I truly am thankful that we haven't had to deal with any catastrophic weather this year.
On a humorous note, I made sure to give my outside planters an extra-large dose of watering right after I returned home from church. Which was just a short time before the rains hit. My eldest made sure to tell me that my flowers look as if they've all drowned... Hubby was trying to quietly hush him even as he imparted the news to me, lol. I was hoping they would last til the first frost, but whether they will remains to be seen. I had it on good authority from a friend (named Mrs.Darling) that it was not going to rain this week, in spite of the fact that the weather channel link said otherwise. I'm thinking now that was just wishful thinking on her part rooted in her desire for her garden to continue to ripen it's produce. But I wouldn't want to say I told you so... lol :)
Healthwise, the Artist and I are now feeling better. I'm not a huge fan of antibiotics, but I must say they have their place. Or it could be those huge amounts of vitamin C I've been taking. The rest of the family still remains healthy, and hopefully they will stay that way.
I have to admit that I've been reading several of the Jane Austen mysteries lately, and I'm afraid that whenever I do that, strange language patterns start creeping into my posts. I start to use words and phrases out of the ordinary...like impart and such. Just thought I'd throw out an explanation;)
Our co-op for the day has been cancelled due to suspected strep throat (but not ours). I have to say that right now the last place I want to be is near anyone with even a small cold. But the kids have really been enjoying our school day out, so we're a little disappointed for that reason. I managed to pick up a modeling kit of the empire state building at the thrift store this weekend for $3.99 (new in the box) so I may set them to work on that after we get in the 3 R's for the day. It has miniature bricks that are supposed to be cemented together, and looks like something that could keep them busy for a few hours.
And I may finally get to those fall decoration pictures tomorrow. Maybe.
Have a wonderful Monday~

I'm glad that you're feeling better...and that your computer seems to be working properly again :)
I'm glad that you're feeling better, too. I did not even notice your throwing those words in, probably because I am currently reading a Jane Austen mystery as well.
Which one are you reading right now Nikki? I'm on the Ghosts of Netley. I noticed that Stephanie Barrons has written another book, though not another Jane Austen mystery, it's still a historical novel. She's a very good writer, so I think I may give that one a try as well.
Good to hear you are feeling better.
I love that Jane Austen speech too.
Ohhh can't wait to see decorations. I love what you did with the bench a while back. You asked about rice and thought I would tell you here. If you soak the brown rice the night before the cooking time should be similar to white rice (maybe a bit longer) I always cook the rice before adding it to a casserole and even when I do and freeze it I ensure there is plenty of liquid so it doesn't dry out in the oven. We never eat white rice and love the brown stuff only if soaked. If not there is crunchy parts ewwwww.
Looking forward to seeing those fall decoration pics... it's still warm here in Texas, but I still like to relish any hints of the autumn season that I can! :o)
