Don't ask me why I did it.
It was just one of those spur-of-the-moment decisions. Which I personally don't happen to make very often. Kind of like when I decided to get my long hair of 6 years cut one Sunday afternoon when my husband took all the kids with him on the bus route. Very little thought went into that (the hair-cutting that is) and I'm relatively happy with it.
I guess I've hit a (imaginary) brick wall with my regular blog. My oldest child is turning 13 in a few months; my youngest will be 8 in a few weeks. So in some ways I've entered a new phase in my life. I'm trying to decide which direction to take things, and trying not to force myself to blog in any particular way.
Yes, I know this will be met with cries (like anyone is actually going to react with that kind of passion to this post) of "post anything and everything you like."
But in my mind, I need a blog that I can just post a few short words, or just a picture if need be. Maybe a place where Mom's brain can go on vacation (a euphemism around here for when my brain shuts off at night involuntarily; sometimes before it's supposed to).
The truth is that there are just 2 more weeks of school left, and then my schedule will drastically change. And I will most likely reappear here with more stimulating posts (oh the pressure!)
But in the meantime, when I really have nothing to say, I can say it here.

It sounds like you need facebook which you already have. A place where you can "just post a few short words, or just a picture if need be."
And you hear me "crying," "Post anything and everything you like!"
All kidding aside, I've missed you the last few months. I figure that you are just extremely busy, but I miss your posts and your comments on my posts. I hope this summer will free up some of your time so I can "see" you more often.
Oh, and where are your "favorite things"? And where is the picture of your new haircut?
Nikki, Facebook just doesn't fill that need for me. I don't mind leaving an occasional comment there, but I don't care to post there very much. It's good for communication between long distance relatives and old friends, but for the rest I choose blogging. By the way, when I say a few words, I still mean a post :) For my meaning of a few words, it would still be too long on Facebook.
And yes, I have just been super busy in a particular way (it's not like the rest of the world isn't super busy as well, right?:) That will soon change, and I am so looking forward to jumping back into blogging. I've missed all of my blogging friends as well.
Thanks for still checking in here. It's always nice to "see" a friend!
I've missed you too. I know you show up from time to time (and what a wonderful surprise that is!). I just hope you have balance and that blogging falls into its proper place in that balance for you. My blogs have recently died. One only kept trudging along because I had long ago scheduled some posts in a weekly series type thing.
I hope I'm coming back alive myself though. Maybe we'll run into each other more often soon!
Miss you!
I hope so Kaye (running into each other more often). You're one of my first stops when blog-visiting, which shows you just how busy things have been on my end! Blogging is a bit of a diversion for me, when the stress (self-induced) of coming up with a "legitimate" post is taken out of the way. So in the proper balance (as you so aptly put it) it is very beneficial to me. Thanks for stopping by :)
