I have been baking up a storm since around 6am this morning. We're having a Harvest festival at our church tonight, and I signed up to make some treats for the cake-walk. With the kids still snuggling in bed, it was the perfect time for uninterrupted work.
I officially declared today a day off of school (the first we've taken this school year) and it seems like a treat to do anything that isn't school related during the day for a change. I may even sneak in a short nap this afternoon; but let's just keep that between you and me;)
Here are pictures of the cookies I made.
I used my own homemade sugar cookie recipe, which I'm afraid I can not share here (it's a closely guarded family secret;). However, here is a link for the candy corn cookie recipe. I used my own dough, but followed the recipe for the design. They turned out so cute and colorful. And I made extra of the chocolate layer to use for the bat cookies. I should warn you: kneading the chocolate into the dough is quite a messy job. It was worth the trouble for the final product though.
I still plan to bake and decorate a chocolate cake, and to put the finishing touches on our costumes. We're dressing the whole family with a theme this evening, which has neccessitated making some of the items needed ourselves.
So what is our theme this year? That's another highly guarded secret;)
Let's just say we'll be following the yellow brick road to the festival:)

What cute cookies! I hope you post a picture of your family while you're all dressed up.
Thanks for stopping by Sandi:)
Nikki: As if you had to ask;)
All of the goodies are cute, but those candy corn are adorable! Great recommendation.
I'm now waiting on those pictures of the family dressed up. =)
For the dog Halloween pics...I got them in an email. Send me a message to mrsnespy (hotmail)and I will forward it to you if I can find it. If not, I will let you know and he'll just have to save the pics into an email himself from the blog. =( I should still have it though.
By the way...I deleted the last comment you left on my blog because you left your real (gasp) name in it. You've told me before, but I didn't know if you wanted it public Blogville knowledge, so I deleted the comment.
Hope you're having a good weekend. Still waiting on pics of the dressed up family! =)
Very cute cookies! And I love the new colors! Very fall-ish :)
